Audition Dates: Sunday, March 14th 6 p.m Callbacks: Monday, March 15th 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 16th is a possible added day for callbacks

Show Dates: May 6,7,8,9,12 (10am matinee), 14,15,16,21,22,23. Please do not audition if you have a conflict with any show dates

THE ROLE OF MARMEE IS ALREADY CAST & ALL REMAINING ROLES ARE OPEN

We are currently looking for 4 male and 5 female actors and singers ages 18 and up. Please
prepare a Classical Broadway style song of no more than 32 bars (NO SONGS FROM THE SHOW, PLEASE). A song that emphasizes your acting abilities as well as your singing is highly encouraged. An accompanist and CD player will be provided, ABSOLUTELY NO A CAPELLA SINGING WILL BE ACCEPTED! There will be a movement audition immediately following the vocals. Please bring the appropriate attire. There will be cold readings and harmony testing at the callbacks as necessary.

Rehearsals will be Sundays at 6 p.m. and Tuesdays & Thursdays at 7 p.m All those wishing to audition or have any questions, should contact the show s Director, Jennifer Staffenberg, via EMAIL ONLY. Characters

Jo March (Mezzo with belt)
Lead role requiring both comedic & dramatic skill. Jo- A, very spirited, passionate writer. She is strong-willed, tomboyish and a very liberal woman ahead of her time. The story centers around her life, from the Christmas that it all started, to the publishing of her first novel and her engagement to Professor Bhaer.

Meg March/Clarissa (Lyric soprano)
The eldest daughter and the beauty of the family – a romantic who wants more from life than just working as a governess. Struggles to fit into society despite her family’s poverty.

Amy March/Troll (Soprano)
A willful girl who is not content to be the “baby” of the family. A painter. Pretentious and spoiled, and quite the firecracker. Actor should be able to play both 12-year-old and adult versions of Amy.

Beth March/Rodrigo two (Light soprano)
Nervous and shy on the outside but has an inner strength. A musician devoted to duty and social caring for others, even at the expense of herself. She is a peace-maker, and always sees the good in everyone.

Aunt March/Mrs. Kirk (Mezzo)
The pretentious, crotchety, & difficult matriarch of the family. Widowed, wealthy and willing to try anything to maintain her influence over Marmee and her girls. Strong character role.

Laurie/Rodrigo (Strong tenor: must be able to sing to high B-flat)
He is charming, intelligent, bighearted and often hopeless, boy-next-door. He loves Jo dearly, but quickly is rejected when he proposes. He later travels to Europe and meets, Amy, whom he marries. (must be able to play early to mid twenties).

Mr. Brooke/Braxton (Baritone)
Laurie’s tutor. Slightly shy, stiff man, Mildly awkward, completely entranced with Meg.

Mr. Laurence/Knight (Baritone)
Laurie’s grandfather and guardian, determined to make Laurie forget his own dreams and join the family business. His gruff, opinionated exterior hides the inevitable heart of gold. Mature man, stiff curmudgeon.

Professor Bhaer (Baritone).
He is German and a well respected philosophy professor, who serves as Jo s mentor. Silently loves Jo and announces his love for her at the end of the show.
(German accent is a plus)
