Please come prepared with a dramatic monologue and for a cold read.

Here is a description of each character:

The Hunter: 6 ft to 6.5. 40’s – 60’s. Strong, but not overtly. Very haggard
looking. Facial scars, etc… His eyes are very important, as he has an
ancient quality to him. Yet, there is something dead in him as well. I want
him to have a real rugged look. He has to have an old soul quality. That is
what is most important about the hunter. We need to get the sense, that even
though he looks a certain age, he has been around for a while…a long while

Frightened Man: Probably in his 20’s. 5′9 to 6.0′. He can be very skinny.
Must be able to play genuine fear, without being on the nose, or appearing
as though he is acting.

Wild Man: mid 30’s to Early 40’s. Can be 5.5 – 6.0ft. Long hair, beard. Must
be able to look completely unkempt and desperate. Again, the eyes are
important here as well.

Leonard: Late 30’s to early 50’s. He looks old, but still younger than he
should be. Haggard is the word that comes to mind. He almost has a similar
look to the hunter. He has seen the worst of it, and has done what’s
necessary to survive. He, along with the rest of the cast, must be able show
this sense of perpetual regret on their faces. He has to be able to play the
complex subtext he is given. Sure he’s a murderer, but also a father.

Young John: 7 – 12 yrs old: He should look really young. He should also be
shorter for his age and skinny. Needs to be able to express complete
innocence, yet also confusion and gravitas. We need a great young actor for
this.

John: Early 30’s to mid 40’s. 5.9 to 6.1 ft Thin to medium build, or
slightly overweight. John is obviously the most important casting decision
made. Not only does he need to be a fine actor, but we need to get a
definite sense of his emptiness and fear through the actor’s physical life.
He has to be able to communicated subtly and physically. The audience has to
sympathize with John more than any other character. I believe that we will
know him when we see him. Hopefully Tony, but if not we can find someone
else. Again, I am open to someone older.

Stephen: Late 20’s to mid 40’s. 5.11 to 6.2 ft. Needs to be slightly younger
than john. He is thin and in great shape. He has been through a lot, but
could look slightly younger than John. He needs to be able to express
religious fervor and conviction.

Paul: Mid 30’s to mid 50’s. 5.9 to 6.3 ft. Medium build. Strong physique,
but not necessarily toned, just strong. Caucasian. This guy is a mentor to
John. Someone John trusts. Again, his life has been difficult. I want the
audience to not be able to write this guy off as a villain. He must be able
to attain something sympathetic.

Nick: Early to late 20’s. 5.8 to 6.0 ft. Thin and in good shape. Nick can be
younger. He almost has a bounce in his step. He did not experience the
apocalypse, so there is a naivete to him.

Sarah: Mid 20’s to mid 30’s. Attractive. Could be short, average, or tall.
Thin. Could be blond or Brunette. But I’m picturing her as a brunette and
Terra as a blonde. She should be younger than John. and have a vulnerable
quality to her. She should also be attractive. Their is a resilience to her
that I really see. She shares similar traits to Paul. She also must be able
to appear both trustworthy and deceptive, just like Paul. Still yet, there
is a naivete to her that underlies everything, i.e. a general fear of the
unknown.

Abel: 8 to 12 year old. Should be close to same age as young john. He is
skinny and almost gaunt. keen eyes. We need a bright, almost brilliant,
child to play Abel. He should be able to exhibit sincerity, honesty, and
wisdom beyond his years. He is an old soul.

Cap: Mid 40’s to early 70’s. Medium to bigger build. Bearded. He needs to
have grandfatherly quality, as if he is a guardian of something old and
mysterious. Needs to be able to pull off dramatic monologues. He should have
a spark in his eye. His eyes are important to me, as I see him with a rough
face, probably bearded, but with eyes that are soft and inviting. He is a
man of conviction and hope. He is an idealist. Also needs to be able to play
the violin.

Cornell: African American. Mid 20’s to late 30’s. Taller, athletic build.
Must be able to grow beard. This is a character we are adding.

William: 13 – 18 years old. Must look skinny, as if he’s barely survived. He
should also be athletic. He should be able to do good southern accent.

Eldridge Porter: late 40’s to mid- 60’s. Should look strong, like a farmer.
He can be medium or slightly overweight. Should be able to wield a shotgun.
He can be 5.8 to 6.3 ft.

There will be additional casting notices in the future for extras.
