Bob Russell directs this legendary farce, written by award-winning novelist and playwright Michael Frayn. Noises Off! is a highly theatrical and extraordinarily funny look behind the scenes of a British theatre troupe performing a second-rate sex comedy called Nothing On. Doors slam, identities are confused and chaos reigns in this hilarious comedy that follows the motley and disorganized theatre company as they rehearse, perform and, well, just try to make it through Nothing On as the never-ending theatrical mishaps snowball out of control.

Actors ages 18 and older are asked to bring a current headshot and resume to the audition, which will consist of cold readings from the play’s script. Rehearsals will begin in mid-December and performances will be held at the Slayton House Theatre on March 5, 6, 7, 12, 13, and 14 of 2010. The man who made it happen was the “Father of Rock’n’Roll,” Sam Phillips, who discovered them all. The Jungle Book is a daring tale of adventure based on Rudyard Kipling’s exotic tale. The story follows a young boy named Mowgli who was raised in the jungles of India by a pack of wolves. Throughout his adventures, he meets characters of all shapes and sizes: Kaa the snake, King Louie the leader of the monkeys in the jungle, Shere Khan the dangerous Bengal Tiger and, of course, the beautiful young girl from the ‘real people’ village. SYNOPSIS: After his beloved Buddhist mother passes away of cancer, an amateur comedian in grief has 100 days to marry his estranged high school sweetheart in order for his mother’s soul to be at peace. To fulfill this spiritual wish, the man finds the woman as a tour guide and married to a lawyer. This unlikely reunion turns into a provocative healing and salvation for each other.

NOTE: While this is a theater piece, the comedic tone and dramatic plot line is resonant to REIGN OVER ME, LOST IN TRANSLATION, BEFORE SUNSET, GARDEN STATE. This is a non-traditional, experimental development process for a personal passion project for the playwright/actor. The play will be written tailored to cast.

About Writer/Actor:
Based in Chicago and Los Angeles, Weiko Lin holds a MFA in Film and TV from UCLA. His past plays and musicals have been produced at UCLA Royce Hall, Veteran’s Wadsworth Theater, and Century City Playhouse. His last play THE BEST MAN premiered at David Henry Hwang Theater in May 2007. In film, his recent projects in development include an event drama for the Mark Gordon Company (GREYS ANATOMY, SAVING PRIVATE RYAN) and a teen comedy at Madhouse Entertainment (FIRST SNOW, upcoming BOUNTY starring Jennifer Aniston and Gerald Butler). Winner of a Samuel Goldwyn Writing Award and a WGA member, he is a faculty member at Northwestern University. Weiko is represented by William Morris Endeavor Entertainment.

The Train Station depicts the lives of different people on their way to the train station to catch the train to various destinations. Little does each person know, where they thought they were going is not where they are destined to go. Only one man and one child will board the train. The others are left without a clue until the train comes. This play could be considered a little spiritual in nature, but comical at best.

PREMISE

When six holiday lawn ornaments are placed outside a townhouse in Queens on the day before Thanksgiving they become alive and interact with each other as they observe the human condition until a crisis comes forth and requires a sacrifice from several of the Nativity scene members.

This story is one of redemption… with many funny lines interwoven.

Wants her household to run smoothly and wants Eddie to be happy, but is aware that something may be wrong in her home. Good woman trying to protect her family and what is hers.

ALFIERI
50s – 70. Self-made man who grew up in Red Hook and became a lawyer. Thoughtful, good- humored and non-judgmental. Good and decent man who was once a member of this Italian working- class community.

RODOLFO
Italian immigrant man, 20s. “Fresh off the boat”. Young, blond and attractive. Dreamer, idealistic and naïve; has no idea that he is a threat to Eddie. Masculine yet vulnerable. Has a nice tenor voice.

MARCO
Italian immigrant man, early 30s. “Fresh off the boat.” Rodolpho’s older, protective brother. Square-built peasant of 32. Suspicious. Tender and quiet-voiced, but has an imposing physical presence. Loyal family man.

EDDIE
Onstage role is CAST, and will likely be understudied by another member of the onstage cast. Auditioning performers will be considered as possible replacements, should any become necessary. Italian American man, 40s. Working-class longshoreman. Protective of his family, and especially of his niece Catherine.

MOISHE
Male, 20-27 years of age. Son of the cult leader, Moishe is a charismatic fellow in charge of preserving Modesty Rules.

YANKEE
Male, 20-27. A curious man by nature, Yankee is constantly tempted by Satan.

HAYEH
Female, 18-22. Full of life, Hayeh is actually dead — but she’s the most beautiful creature ever to show up in the cult’s neighborhood.

ENFORCER
Male, 40-50. A tough man who finds pleasure in cruelty.

All actors must have excellent comic timing.

Description: Sam Wainright is a polished MC with great timing and a wicked sense of humor. A Bob Hope set in the days of Vaudeville who masks a certain darkness. Sam lost his girl to George Bailey and is set on showing the world that his childhood friend isn’t as great as everyone thinks. Good singing voice. Must be able to do Irish accent

Project Synopsis:
Everyone loves the main character George Bailey from “It’s A Wonderful Life.” That’s a fact. But whatever happened to Sam Wainwright?! Who’s Sam Wainwright? Only one of George Baileys best friends…and Mary’s former boyfriend. Remember when George and Mary where on the phone with Sam? They suddenly locked eyes, admitted their love for each other, kissed and hugged, and the rest was cinema history. But they dropped the phone with Sam on the other end. What was Sam thinking? Had Sam just lost Mary forever? Part morality tale, part vaudeville comedy, “Hee-Haw” looks at the underbelly of Bedford Falls and those people who are at the fringe of their community

We will be casting in This Sunday, November 1st from 1p-3p in NYC (place TBD)

The rehearsal run from November 2nd – December 2nd. Performances are December 3rd – December 20th @ Nuyorican Poets Cafe.

This is an AEA Showcase and there will be a small stipend.

The Leading Women…… Elizabeth- Early 30′’s very pretty beautiful shape has sing married to Donald. Very dedicated to her husband she’s very family oriented. She homely until her husband tells her he needs a change. She then becomes a women on a mission

Juan- Mid 30’s Athletic built, very handsome, has to sing married to Roxxana. Juan is a laid back person who loves his wife. His a professional basketball player. He has to sing

Roxanna- Early 30’s the best friend to Elizabeth she a teacher has to sing

Jennifer- Early 30 drinks a very lot the sister to Elizabeth and the daughter to Barbara

JO-JO- Mid 30’s athletic built very handsome. He brings the comedy to the stage he has to have a sense of humor his the cousin to Donald

Marcus- Mid 30’s Very rude and disrespectful. Show no respect to his wife. Marcus is cheating on his wife. His very handsome and athletic built. Controlling and demands to be in control no matter what

Samantha- Early 30’s very pretty slim shape. She is a very nasty acting person. She carries herself well but very conceited Her husband beats on her and she feels as long as he pays for everything then everything is good

Barbara- Late 40’s the mother to Elizabeth and Jennifer she’s very church going but holds a grudge with her daughter who her husband died for. She kind of favors the oldest daughter more then the youngest has to sing

Frank- Early 50’s The uncle to Marcus very handsome man who is full of wisdom and loves the Lord and has to sing
