right college and in with the right group, his life will change.
His contact to that college is Brett, a douche bag that Shaquille knows
b/c their parents are friends.
Best friends with Sideshow and Chelsea.
He made out once or twice with Chelsea he’s more into the relationship
than her, though he tries to act cool.

Sideshow (18, stoner) High school senior. Best friends with Shaq and
Chelsea.
Sideshow has a crush on Chelsea’s older sister, Rebecca.

Chelsea (to play 17, attractive) High school junior. Good friends with
Sideshow and Shaq. She has made out with Shaq a couple times they have
kept this a secret from Sideshow b/c they think he’ll freak out.
She’s a musician and has a band (with Bridget and Alexa). The 3-girl band
won an Air Band Competition so people think that’s all they can do for
now, anyway. No one at school really knows who she is she’s managed to
stay under the radar even though she’s really pretty.
She’s insecure but needs to find that confidence if she’s going to make it
in music.

Brett (18-22) The college guy that Shaq is trying to impress with this
party. Brett is in a big frat and sits on the fraternity scholarship
committee.

Rover (mid 20s mid 30s) Sideshow’s pot dealer; still tries to hang
with the younger crowd. He’s a little more on the paranoid side than the
typical laid back weed dealer guy.

Jessica (18-22, very pretty, looks like a pageant girl) Was the head
cheerleader/homecoming queen in high school. Now a college freshman and
seemingly has her glory days behind her.

Bridget (17, edgy, attractive) One of the girls in Chelsea’s band.

Alexa (17, attractive) One of the girls in Chelsea’s band.

Sage (7-11, could be a girl or boy) Chelsea’s little sister, a

MARCO
Italian immigrant man, early 30s. “Fresh off the boat.” Rodolpho’s older, protective brother. Square-built peasant of 32. Suspicious. Tender and quiet-voiced, but has an imposing physical presence. Loyal family man.

LOUIS AND MIKE
Italian American men, 30s – 50. Gruff, working-class longshoremen. Friends with Eddie. Pass the time with stories and jokes. Actors in these roles may understudy other characters.

MR. LIPARI
Italian man, 50s. Intense, stout, middle-aged butcher in Red Hook. Non-speaking role. Actor may understudy Alfieri.

MRS. LIPARI
Italian woman, 40s. Middle-aged wife of Mr. Lipari. Non-speaking role. Actor may understudy Beatrice.

TONY
Italian American man, 20s. Working-class longshoreman. Actor also plays “Submarine” #2, and may understudy another role.

FIRST IMMIGRATION OFFICER
30s – 50s. Tough, unwavering. Doing his job, which ultimately sends both Marco and Rodolpho back to Italy. Strong physical presence. Actor may understudy another role.

SECOND IMMIGRATION OFFICER
30s – 50s. Tough, unwavering. Just doing his job. Strong physical presence. Actor may understudy another role.

Italian immigrant man, 20s – 30s. Non-speaking. Actor may understudy another role.

CATHERINE UNDERSTUDY

EDDIE
Onstage role is CAST, and will likely be understudied by another member of the onstage cast. Auditioning performers will be considered as possible replacements, should any become necessary. Italian American man, 40s. Working-class longshoreman. Protective of his family, and especially of his niece Catherine.
