Theater auditions for “It’s A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play”
Aldersgate Church Community Theater (ACCT) is pleased to announce auditions for “It’s A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play”. This beloved American holiday classic comes to captivating life as a live 1940s radio broadcast. With the help of an ensemble that brings a few dozen characters to the stage, the story of idealistic George Bailey unfolds as he considers ending his life one fateful Christmas Eve.
Auditions are Saturday, October 3 from 2-4 PM and Sunday, October 4 from 7-9 PM in Room 132, Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 1301 Collingwood Road, Alexandria, VA 22308. Each actor should bring a current resume and a list of all conflicts thru November 28th. Performance dates scheduled for Nov. 20, 21, 22, 27, 28 & 29, 2009.
CAST 3 females, 4 males (additional actors may be cast if needed)
Freddie Filmore – Radio Announcer, Host, Joseph and several other voices.
Jake Laurents (George Bailey) – male lead
Sally Applewhite – (Mary Hatch Bailey) – female lead
Lana Sherwood – Rose Bailey, Matilda, Mrs. Hatch and other female voices.
Harry “Jazzbo” Heywood – Harry, Sam Wainwright, Clarence and other male voices.
Actors will be required to cold read from the script. No dramatic monologue will be required at this time. Actors should be able to adapt quickly to multiple voice changes and characters. There will be NO line memorization except for the role of Freddie Filmore as the Radio Announcer and Host.
