Seeking a diverse cast of 22-27 men and woman for “Our Town”
Director Rosemary Hartman and Producer Amanda Helms invite you to audition for “Our Town”.
Auditions will be at 7 pm on Tues Sept 8th and Wed Sept. 9th, with callbacks on Thur Sept. 10th.
Performance dates (subject to change): Fri and Sat at 8 pm 10/30 & 10/31, 11/06 & 11/07, 11/13 & 11/14; Tue at 8 pm 11/10; plus Sun Matinee at 2 pm 11/15/2009
We are seeking a diverse cast of 22-27 men and woman of all ages and experience.

All Auditions, Callbacks, Rehearsals & Performances are at the Lee Center for Performing Arts, 1108 Jefferson Street in Old Town Alexandria. Non-paid/Volunteer.
There will be cold readings from the script. The director requests that you familiarize yourself with the script which is available in any library.
Thornton Wilder’s Our Town is an American classic. It takes place in Grovers Corners, New Hampshire, a typical small town. Narrated by the Stage Manager, we see the daily life routines of two typical American families. During the progression of the play there is a gradual representation of life’s deeper aspects, mostly through George Gibbs and Emily Webb, whose unspoken mutual affection as children blossoms into love, marriage, and death.
Act 2 celebrates George and Emily’s wedding. The characters analyze the need for human companionship while questioning the institution of marriage. The last-minute apprehension that both Emily and George experience about being married represents a universal theme of young people wanting to grow up quickly while still craving childhood’s relative certainty and security.
