Actors invited to audition will do so on Saturday, January 8, 20011

THE STORY: When Brian comes home from NYC to spend another boring Thanksgiving with his family in Maryland, he’s surprised to learn that his little brother has a hot new young nanny, Claudette ‒ who’s living in his bedroom! Self-absorbed and a bit sleazy, Brian tries to seduce her to spice up his holiday, but getting to know her transforms him in an unexpected way when he learns that she’s from Haiti and that her family, who she supports with the money she makes in the U.S., was devastated by the January 2010 earthquake that destroyed the island’s capital.

We are currently seeking actors for the following roles:

LEADS & PRINCIPALS

BRIAN (LEAD)
20s. An all-American male who is a college graduate living in the Bronx and working in Manhattan. Brian works hard and plays harder, and finds his mother’s insistence on him coming home to Maryland for the holidays to be a bit of a farce—she only seems to care about family since his father passed away four years ago. His main interest is in making himself happy, whatever the means, and for the time being, that means keeping a safe distance from his boring relatives.
Physical Description: Attractive, and of average build, American male, of any ethnicity.

CLAUDETTE (LEAD)
20s. Was born in Haiti, and has only lived in the US for the past 6 years She recently began working as an au pair for Brian’s family to help support her own family, who live in a displacement camp in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Though her heart longs to be with her loved ones in Haiti she manages to forge a compassionate relationship with her young ward, Jacob, who reminds her of the little brother she lost in the earthquake. Physical Description: Young woman of Afro-Caribbean descent or origin, preferably with some familiarity and experience with French language or accents, with a fairly curvaceous figure.

LACIE (PRINCIPAL)
40s. Middle-aged woman, she was widowed four years prior. She is torn between her need to feel closer to her sons after the loss of their father and her responsibilities at the high-powered firm where she works as a finance lawyer. She senses a growing distance in her eldest son, Brian, who now lives in NYC, and is struggling to become closer to him even as he pushes his family away. A single working mother, she has also hired Claudette on whom she relies to help with the parenting and domestic duties at home.

JACOB (PRINCIPAL)
5-year-old young boy who is very precocious and loving. He finds much joy in his life and feels like the luckiest boy alive because he’s got three great people to love and call his own. He loves his family — Mom, Brian and Claudette.

ADDITIONAL Characters:

(1) TAXI CAB DRIVER (ACTOR)
Aged 25-65. Foreign-born resident of the US. Familiarity with accents is a plus. The cab driver is a foil to all-American Brian when we first meet him.

(1) SCHOOL PLAY TICKET LADY (ACTOR)
Aged 30-55. She greets Brian at his younger brother’s school play, and has a friendly, but bossy personality.
