Red Curtain Foundation announces auditions for “London Suite” – Everett, WA

Red Curtain Foundation announces auditions for “London Suite,” a comedy by Neil Simon, directed by Margie Slovan. “London Suite” will be performed at the Historic Everett Theater over two weekends in September. Rehearsals will be held in Everett, with some possible rehearsals in Seattle. “London Suite” will open on Thursday, Sept. 16th, and will run through Sunday Sept. 26th. Show dates will be Thursday – Saturday at 8pm, and Sundays at 2pm. Rehearsals will generally be Sunday – Wednesday evenings.

Auditions will be held on Sunday, August 1st from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., in 5 minute appointments, with callbacks on Monday, August 2 from 7 to 10 p.m. They will be held at the Historic Everett Theater, 2911 Colby Ave, Everett WA. Please prepare a 2 minute contemporary comic monologue, and be prepared to read from the script. You may be asked to improvise. Please be prepared to list all conflicts between the audition date and Sept 26.

Being that we are community theatre, we offer no pay to the cast.

“London Suite” consists of four short plays, all set in the same hotel room in London. Some actors may play multiple roles.

We are casting for all roles:

Brian: a successful middle-aged novelist who has just discovered his manager of 20 years is stealing him blind. Welsh accent preferred but not mandatory.

Billy: Brian’s manager. Something of a weasel.

Sidney: Elegant 50-ish gentleman who left his wife, a successful actress, to take up with a gay sculptor in Greece. Self-assured, good sense of humor. British accent gets extra points but not mandatory.

Diana: Sidney’s ex-wife, 50-ish, vain, a drama queen. She is still in love with Sidney and will do anything to get him back.

Grace: Diana’s secretary, very loyal to Diana, practical and calm. 25-35.

Mother: Widow from New York City, 50-ish, who fills the void in her life by buying shoes, and by getting over-involved in the life of her married daughter, Lauren.

Lauren: 30-ish, worried about her mom and tries to find her a new man.

Mark: 50-ish American from Los Angeles; excitable, touchy. Actor must be comfortable with physical comedy.

Annie: Mark’s wife, a psychotherapist. Stubborn, often distracted, easily upset. Must be comfortable with physical comedy.

Doctor: Jovial Irishman, 40 – 60, must be comfortable with physical comedy. Irish accent necessary.

Mrs. Sitgood: Hotel manager. Prim, staid, only sees what she wants to see. Must have Scottish or Irish accent, must be comfortable with physical comedy.

Bellman: Young man, British accent preferred, must be comfortable with physical comedy.
