25 MINUTE SHORT FILM
Premise of film:
On the mundane level, it appears that Tirique leaves his best friend or partner (Crafton) behind, and walks away for a better life. He soon realizes the person he left behind was/is the betterment of his life.
On the spiritual/esoteric level, Tirique attempts to extricate a part of himself he thinks holds him back from enjoying life (his inner self), but later realizes that the whole of him is the ALL of him.
Looking for: African American/Black, or Multi Racial, male actor, mid to late twenties, or in thirties but looks twenties, nice looking – attractive, btw 5’7” – 5’ 10,” height weight proportionate, and the ability to convey strong emotions without speaking a word. If you’re a smoker (cigs), that’s okay too.
This character’s role is for an esoterically surreal and deeply emotional charged film.
ABOUT THE CHARACTER
TIRIQUE: warm and friendly demeanor, attractive, warm eyes, something internally bruised and odd about him. Different non-stereotype. Tirique has a slender/lean physique but is pretty toned. He’s not athletic and the word ‘gym’ to him is like saying ‘holy water’ to a vampire. His nature/vibe is that of a reclusive bohemia artist type. Does get out at times. Hangs out at arty dive bars. Easy to get along with, and well liked.
This character is bi-sexual and is questioning his sexuality but is very comfortable in his skin. Nothing effeminate about him. Feeling out of place. There will be a few scenes of tender affection he will have with his male co-star in this film. There will he one scene in this film where you will have to act and be very intimidated by your other co-star.
Principle photography is set to begin shooting mid-Feb 2010. So, I would like to start working with the actor who’s best suited for this role as soon as possible. I will email (in attached PDF format) the completed script to you.
Note: The goal of this project is to submit this film for the 2011 Short Film Festivals before June 2009, and a screening at a local art house for an audience critique. This part is non-pay. You will be given credit for certain, and DVD copy for your resume, and a chance to connect with a really great cast and crew, and make more connections.
