Synopsis of ‘Taste’

This film is about a young woman, Angela Tomassi, and her ill and aging
father who are desperately trying to hold on to their family winery and
vineyards in the big money, high-pressure, modern wine business world.
Angela has taken her father’s skills and a masters degree in winemaking and
is creating highly crafted, super-premium wines, but it’s not enough to make
ends meet. In order to get the publicity he knows they need to succeed, her
father introduces her to the man she loathes the most, Charles Roy, the most
powerful critic and consultant in the business. Angela is then faced with
making a decision that will compromise herself and her art for her family
business and her father

This is a Seattle Central student film to be shot on 16 mm. You will get a
great piece for your reel.

Main Speaking Characters:

Angela Tomassi - Mid 20’s, medium frame, Classic beautiful. Mediterranean,
i.e. dark hair/eyes, olive complexion. Fiery, driven, disciplined,
passionate. The winery and her father are her world. She’s capable of hard
physical work to keep up the winery.

Matteo Tomassi (Angela’s father) - Late 50’s to mid 60’s, medium to large
frame. Mediterranean (graying/thinning hair?). Matteo is seriously ill and
it has worn him down. He must rest every couple of hours during the day.
He is also fiery, driven, disciplined and passionate, but he is realistic
and grounded from running the family business for years.

Charles Roy - Mid 40’s, medium frame, average looks (not overly handsome, or
repulsive). Self assured, articulate, traveled, educated and business savvy
but also has humility/artistic sensitivity. He is a renowned international
wine consultant and critic. Writes for the wine periodical ‘Wine
Spectator.’ His taste in wine and developed winemaking techniques have
shaped the U.S. wine industry into a powerhouse of premium wine producers
who sell to the masses at reasonable prices.

Minor Speaking Characters:

Grandpa Tomassi (Matteo’s father in his dream) - Mid 40’s, Mediterranean,
basic good looks. He’s a farmer and should look rugged. Playful, loves his
son.

Matteo as a boy - Dark haired, Mediterranean child, about 7 or 8 years old.
Should be very boyish, not cherubic.

Auditions:

When: Saturday February 24th from 1pm-4pm and Wednesday February 28th from
3:15pm-7pm (we are flexible)

Where: 1500 Harvard Ave on Capitol Hill (cross street Pike)

Auditioning Material: You will be asked to read from a script. Please e-mail
or bring a headshot and resume.

Possible shooting dates: April 9th -14th

Shooting Locations: Bellevue and Yakima (Wine Country)
