The New Conservatory Theatre Center is pleased to announce auditions for their 2009-2010 Pride Season production of Dames at Sea, Book and Lyrics by George Haimsohn and Robin Miller, Music by Jim Wise.
About the show:
This off-Broadway musical hit takes an irreverent look at the Hollywood musicals of the 1930s. It’s a tale of a sweet small town girl who arrives in New York with plans to make it big on Broadway.
Casting the following roles (Non-AEA ONLY):
Mona Kent (Alto, tap) —temperamental Broadway star
Joan (Mezzo, tap) —chorus dancer
Hennesey/Captain (Baritone) —a director/a ship captain, Mona’s former lover
Dick (Tenor, tap) —handsome sailor/songwriter. Dick Powell type.
Lucky (Baritone, tap) —friend of Dick’s, also a sailor, Joan’s former boyfriend
Ruby (Mezzo/Soprano, tap) —stage-struck girl from Utah

The New Conservatory Theater Center 25 Van Ness @ Market, Lower Lobby.
Prepare:
2 Minute Monologue along with a traditional musical theater song (no more than 32 bars and nothing past 1960 and no Stephen Sondheim). Please bring sheet music in correct key—accompanist will be provided. Also bring your tap shoes if available. No tapes and no CD’s! Also be prepared to dance and tap.
