Synopsis:
Sent to a border town for work, an IT network engineer who longs to be a
musician falls for a charismatic stripper while on the run from two hitmen.
Mahogany Sunrise is a low budget Neo-Noir, Romantic, Action Drama that was
inspired by Jack Kerouac’s On the Road (The Mexican Girl chapters) and
Jean-Luc Godard’s film Breathless. Mahogany Sunrise is a hip ‘lovers on the
run’ story with themes of greed, arrogance, chance encounters, finding
love, taking chances and following your heart to do what you’re meant to in life.
Character Breakdowns:
Mercedes Salinas: age range 24 – 35, beautiful, sexy, Hispanic, looks
good dressed up or down whether hair up or down, strong yet vulnerable,
quick wit, feisty, funny, can sing a plus, preferably long dark hair but
brown okay, good eye gestures, unique mannerisms. Preferably with
Spanish accent or flat accent. Mercedes’ is a single mother who works as
a stripper in a Burlesque throw back to 1940s glam show. (no nudity).
Jackson Shultz: age range 27 – 35, Handsome, Anglo, hipster, quirky,
manly but not a meathead, facial hair, mid height, athletic, good smile.
Plays guitar a plus.
