Casting Call -”The Letter Box”

Location: Portland and vicinity.

Auditions scheduled for Saturday 5 April.

Synopsis: G rated short film, set in the 1950’s, about the friendship
between two children and the inadvertent betrayal of their trust by the
adults in their lives. There are no villains. Every character is doing
their best.

Compensation: Actors will receive a copy and credit. This film will be
submitted to festivals for a broader exposure for those with a serious
commitment to acting and filmmaking.

In addition, a ten minute free tutoring will be offered before every
shooting session in energy methods to enhance performance, energy methods to
deal with performance anxiety and grounding. We will then use these
applications to achieve a synergy of creative efforts.

Filmmaker’s Bio: Director/Writer Roxanne Colyer Clingman is an artist,
writer and musician, with certifications in several energy modalities.
Roxanne has now turned her talents to filmmaking.

Calling for roles:

. The children’s school schedule will be respected. The principle
children must be able to carry a full part and Rosie must have and be able
to match the Southern accent of her father, Dr. Charles.

. Actors must agree to hair styles of the period and a stylist will
be provided without charge to the actors.

. Please come to audition dressed (to approximate as much as
possible) members of a middle class family in the mid-1950’s.

Rosie - a second grader. From the South she has moved to the Northwest with
her newly remarried father, Doctor Charles.

Joey - a second grader who has a disability and wears a football helmet to
protect his brain.

Dr. Charles - mid thirties. A country doctor from the South. Rosie’s
mother has died and he has recently remarried Mama Lucy and moved Rosie and
himself to Mama Lucy’s home in the Northwest.

Mama Lucy - Early thirties. Willing to mother Rosie and trying a bit too
hard.

Anne - Joey’s mother. Mid forties. Tired and worn out.

Teacher - Second grade female teacher.

Bus Driver - male.
