The Story:
“The Whisper Home” is a modern-day drama based on the Parable of The Prodigal Son, sharing the story of a deeply divided family and the power of forgiveness.
CHARACTER BREAKDOWN:
RICHARD PATTERSON – Caucasian – 60’s.
Richard is a medical physician with plenty of wisdom from his life experiences. He is torn between his fighting sons who battle for his attention.
REBECCA PATTERSON – Caucasian – early 30’s.
Rebecca is the mother of a 7-year-old daughter and Stephen’s wife. She is a family minded, independent person who has an ability to keep her family together.
HERB ADAMS – 70 – 80’s.
Herb is a source of advice for Stephen Patterson. He is sickly and resides full-time in a nursing home. Herb is wise, cranky, brutally honest with an edgy sense of humor.
CONNIE PATTERSON – Caucasian – 55 to 60.
Connie is a maternal character with a gentle yet strong presence. She fairly handles her two adult sons who are fighting about their family’s tough situation.
ANGELA PATTERSON – Causasian – 6 to 8 years old.
She is Stephen and Rebecca’s only child. She is a funny, well-adjusted girl who is articulate and communicates well with her family.
BEA – 40’s.
Bea is a drug rehab counselor. She is a tough personality who wants only the best for her patients.
DIANE – 12 to 14 years old.
Diane is a member of Stephen’s church youth group. She is a friendly, outgoing and sports-oriented young lady.
GEORGE FITZGERALD – 30’s to 40’s.
George is a sympathetic character who struggles to take care of his elderly mother while finding enough work to support her.
ETHAN – 30’s
Ethan is an aspiring actor who has a well-intentioned, guy-next-door demeanor.
TONY – mid-30’s to early-40’s:
Recently released from prison, Tony is a large menacing and violent figure with an ability to intimidate using just his voice.
PASTOR WATTERS – 50’s to 60’s.
Pastor Jack Watters is a larger-than-life personality who convinces Stephen Patterson to run for public office.
REPRESENTATIVE HANSEN – 40 to 50’s.
Hansen is a current State Representative with an aim to run for a Senate seat. He is a likeable, polished and intelligent person.
ELDERLY WOMAN
An easily confused person who can be very funny without knowing it.
