Auditions will be held Sun. Nov. 15th at 11AM at STAGEStheatre. Please come prepared with a resume and headshot if possible. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script.

The story takes place over three days in July, 1934 in a small Midwestern town. “Faye is Ace’s girl.” Or was, until she left suddenly for the big city. Now, a year later, she has returned to find Ace waiting and the same provincial attitudes that drove her away in the first place. She rebuffs the advances of her former swain, Ace, and challenges the prevailing attitudes of the town by openly championing Joshua, a backwoods healer with abilities the townsfolk fear. This defiance comes with consequences though as secrets better left alone are uncovered.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN:
Ace: mid-twenties, charismatic and dangerous
Jake: mid-twenties, large and stupid
Sam: mid-twenties, gentle and kind
Joshua Knouse: pronounced “Joshway Kanouse”; 50’s to 60’s, reticent and shy
Luetta: late 20’s to thirties, practical and hard-working
Faye: early twenties, delicate exterior that belies a tough interior
Sally: early twenties, competitive and possessive
Mabel: 50’s, mentally unstable, with a naive honesty that easily turns vindictive
