Seeking dancers with a background in martial arts

“Bruce Lee: Journey to the West”, Elephant Eye Theatrical and Broadway Asia will produce this new musical for the 2010-2011 Broadway season.

Seeking: Dancers – and dancers with a background in martial arts – to work with choreographer Dou Dou Huang to assist in the development of the dance and choreography. The musical is set in China and in the US; we are seeking dancers of all backgrounds. Dancers who have experience with martial arts are especially encouraged to attend.

Bruce Lee: Journey to the West follows the martial arts legend’s difficult road to success, as he’s guided by a powerful ally: The Monkey King, a beloved and playful warrior god from Chinese mythology. In a show fusing sources as diverse as martial arts, Chinese Opera, modern dance, and pop music from the 1950’s to the present day, Bruce and Monkey struggle to master their skills and purify their spirits, on their quest to unite East and West.

Book by David Henry Hwang, music and lyrics by David Yazbek, directed by Bartlett Sher.
