Seeking actors for non-union short student film “The Life of Women” (NYC)
Story about a Filipino woman working overseas as a nanny for a family. After 5 years of being with the Jacobs family, AMELIA MATAPANG is left to decide whether to stay with the family she has been taking care of or her own family in the Philippines. It explores the social identity of a Filipino woman as a mother and wife but also as an individual.
AMELIA MATAPANG: meek and mousey. ages b/w early 30s – early 40s (or can play that). she is kind and soft spoken. it doesn’t seem like she would be a fiery type but she is, there’s something in her, you want to root for her. must have filipino accent
EDWIN MATAPANG: strong build, kind but is very masculine, traditional. ages b/w 30s-early 40s (or can look/play that)
MRS. JACOBS: typical American woman, must be Caucasian, ages early 30s – early 40s (or can play/look that) confident, hard-working corporate woman. she is quite wealthy so that shows in her mannerisms.
NANAY LUCY: meek and mousey, slightly older than Amelia. She’s like the Grandma but is the maid and is treated like she is part of the family. Sweet and kind, nuturing.
