Seeking actors for a new play “Prayer”

Announcing the casting of Prayer, a new play by Jonathan Kravetz about a man wrongfully imprisoned by a fundamentalist regime. Joseph Beuerlein, dir. Rehearsals begin July 11th (evenings and weekends). Play will be performed as part of the New York International Fringe Festival (Aug. 8th - 24th). Locations and specific dates TBD.

Seeking:
Bergson, male, early 40s, a little chubby and content with his life…until accused of sparking a revolution. Nervous, faithful, fearful, can’t fathom why the system has failed him: LEAD. Nelson, male, 30, taut and intense, believes in little and acts mostly to serve his own interests. Can Bergson trust him?
Prison guard, male, late 20s, innocent and in over his head, would prefer to be a kindly shopkeeper like Bergson;
Sub-Priest O’Malley, male, 30s-50s, detective for the state and the holier-than thou-assistant to Priest Alexander who might be willing to help…thinks he’s the smartest guy in the room and is usually right.
Priest Alexander, male, 30s-50s, the rigid enforcer of rules in the new state, believes every one of his pronouncements comes directly from God. Think President Logan from 24;
Sophia, female, early 40s, Bergson’s frightened, naive wife who is forced to come to terms with her wayward husband. In her efforts to do the right thing, she seems always to do the opposite.

Auditions will be held Wednesday, June 25th and Thursday, June 26th from 1pm-5pm at Manhattan Theatre Source, 177 MacDougal Street. Callbacks the next day. Appointments preferred, e-mail headshot and resume to fringeprayer@gmail.com.

Please prepare a one-minute dramatic monologue; sides will be available. Some pay. Equity NYC Basic Showcase Code, pending.
