School Of Visual Arts Student Short Film Breakdown
PROJECT: “THE SPRINT”
CASTING CALL CATEGORY: SHORT STUDENT FILM
LOCATION: NEW YORK, NY/JERSEY CITY, NJ
“The Sprint” is a short student film, approximately 8 minutes, that focuses on a black man running through the streets of Jersey City and the obstacles that he faces along the way. Where is he running to and/or what is he running from does not reveal itself until the very end. Lou Francis Isip will be directing and casting this film, with the instruction of executive producer Bob Giraldi. Filming will begin early January 2009 in Jersey City, New Jersey (right across the Hudson river from New York City).
CASTING:
Man – early-to-mid 40’s, African-American male, who is physically fit and will be able to run throughout the film. This character portrays a sense of fear and desperation.
Corner Store Clerk – early-to-mid 50’s, Hispanic male, who can speak Spanish fluently. He shows discrimination towards the black male, whom he believes is involved in some sort of illegal activity.
Nurse – early-to-mid 20’s, Asian woman. She is friendly but a bit sarcastic.
Woman – early to mid 40’s, woman who actually turns out to be the ex-wife of the man running. She see’s the man running and tries to get his attention.
