Russian-Speaking Actors needed for a short-film
Roza Gazarian is casting “Caught Up” – a 10-minute short film for SVA The Project Class (instructor: Bob Giraldi), shot on HD in Dec ‘09 – Jan ‘10 (total of 2-3 days), in Brooklyn (Brighton Beach) and Manhattan.
A young girl from a little town in South Ukraine wins a chance to study in United States. As soon as she gets to New York, her backpack with all the documents (passport, money, etc) gets stolen. Since she cannot admit her failure to her parents, she decides to stay in New York, constantly lying to them that she goes to school, and lives a nice happy life. Instead, she’s living a life of illegal immigrant, working at a Russian restaurant as a cleaner, and entertaining herself with a fishing at her favorite beach.
SASHA – a young beautiful russian-speaking girl in her 20’s, smart and strong, ready to overcome a lot of obstacles.
MOTHER – a russian-speaking woman in late 50’s, loves her daughter more than anything in her life, expects her to have a great education and career.
FATHER – a russian-speaking man in late 50’s – early 60’s, calm and quiet.
LAWYER – a russian-speaking man in his 30’s – 40’s, tries to force Sasha to have sex with him, as an exchange for his help with her documents.
TWO YOUNG GUYS – two young russian-speaking guys in their 20’s that Sasha meets at Brighton Beach as they leave the restaurant, being tipsy and looking for a company to continue their night adventures.
TWO YOUNG WOMEN – two young beautiful russian-speaking women in their 20’s that walk in to the restaurant’s bathroom while Sasha is there, cleaning.
