Open call non-equity auditions for live stage musical “The Rocky Horror Show”
Playhouse on the Green, a not-for-profit theater company performing in the heart of downtown Bridgeport, is holding Open Call Non-Equity Auditions for its upcoming production of Richard O’Brien’s live stage musical The Rocky Horror Show.
Auditions take place:
Wednesday, September 9sign in begins 6PM and ends 8PM
auditions begin 6:30PM
Saturday, September 12
sign in begins 1PM and ends 2:30PM
auditions begin 1:30PM
The Rocky Horror Show is an outrageous musical comedy featuring a Transylvanian transvestite, a cryogenically preserved motorbiker, and a sexy version of Frankenstein’s monster. This sexual parody of horror and science fiction films premiered onstage in London in 1973, becoming the popular cult classic film “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” in 1975. This production will be mounted by a team of professional directors and designers. Matt Schicker is Producer; Steven Smeltzer is director/choreographer for The Rocky Horror Show; Tim Heavner is Musical Director.
For Audition:
• Please prepare full song from the show or a pop/rock/musical theater song in the style of the show that best shows your voice. Full sheet music (not just chord symbols), provided by you, is required. An accompanist will be provided.
• Please bring photo and resume.
Rehearsals for The Rocky Horror Show take place weeknights after 7PM and weekends during the day beginning September 28. Performances take place Thursday, Fridays, and Saturdays: October 23 – November 14. Three special midnight showings are planned, including Halloween night. All rehearsals and performances to take place at Playhouse on the Green at 177 State Street in Bridgeport, CT. One block walk from Metro North station.
MOST ROLES WILL BE PLAYED BY RETURNING ACTORS FROM LAST YEAR’S PRODUCTION.
SEEKING:
Riff Raff: Tenor (written top G/A-flat), 20s-40s – seeking a true rock screamer. Not your “average” handyman servant.
Magenta: Alto (Top C/D), rock belter, 20s-40s. Servant/maid type with a kinky side. Riff Raff’s sister.
Phantoms (male and female): 20s-40s. Sexy singer/dancers on stage most of the time. Includes a lot of harmony singing so some choral experience is helpful. Exact number of Phantoms cast to be determined in auditions.
