Equity Principal Auditions for “The Pride”
MCC Theater Off-Broadway Currently $927/week minimum.
1st rehearsal: December 28, 2009. Runs January 27 – March 27, 2010 at the Lucille Lortel Theatre.

Note: All actors must have an impeccable sense of British style and social conventions in both the 1950’s and the 1980’s.

SEEKING:

Doctor / Man / Peter: Track is available. Multiple roles for one actor. Characters are British, 37 – 42. Characters are very verbal, and include a homophobic doctor in the 1950’s, a humorously reluctant male prostitute in the 1980’s, and a fast-talking and profane magazine editor, also in the 1980’s. Must combine surprising humor with a deep edge.

Sylvia Understudy: Understudy position available (onstage role is cast). British, 27 – 35. Very verbal. Stylish and educated. A deeply sensitive friend and a deeply conflicted wife. Has real wit.

Male Understudy: This position is available. Covers Oliver, Philip and Doctor/Man/Peter:
Oliver: Understudy position available (onstage role is cast). Seeking Understudy. British, 30 – 35. Effeminate. Very verbal. Posh, must have a sense of style. Sensitive, funny, with a self-destructive sexual overdrive.

Philip: Understudy position available (onstage role is cast). Seeking Understudy. British, 30 – 35. Very verbal. Upper class. Tortured by his suppressed sexuality. Capable of a dangerous and unexpected anger.
