Folger Theatre Washington DC LOA $493/week minimum. Theatre states, “Certain lead roles may be paid in the $600 – $800 range.”

HAMLET
Man, appears to be mid 20s – early 30s. Role requires significant background and experience with formal/classical text. Hamlet is a good fighter, athletic, vigorous. The smartest person in any room, funny, a talker. Filled with promise and possibility. A contemporary man, dressed in a shirt and pants. Prototypes: Emile Hirsch, James Franco. Salary negotiable.
OPHELIA
Woman, 20s. Role requires background and experience in playing formal texts. Interestingly beautiful, physically slight or thin and of medium height. A fragile person living in a world that has no patience for fragility. Prototype: Calista Flockhart in her 20s.
Note from Equity: Character descriptions for these two roles have changed since Folger Theatre’s seasonal Equity Principal Auditions were held on March 31. All Equity Members who consider themselves “right” for one of these roles are welcome to attend (including those who auditioned at the Theatre’s season EPA in March).
