WHO: DOORKNOB COMPANY co-directed by Juilliard graduates Shannon Gillen & Elisabeth Motley, is a dance theater company based in New York City. DOORKNOB has created works for Dance New Amsterdam, HERE Arts Center and been in residency at Festival Oltre Passo in Lecce, Italy and via Fresh Tracks at Dance Theater Workshop.
WHAT: DOORKNOB has been commissioned by the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council to create a site specific work for their Sitelines/River to River Festival. The show runs June 16-26 at 12:30pm (eight shows total). ‘the Miracle Show’, created as a narrative movement collage, explores a community on the verge of experiencing a miracle. Group work is juxtaposed against individual interpretation. Anticipation, wonder and vigor are processed through the heightened personas of the performers.
WE NEED: DOORKNOB is looking for 4 women & 4 men with exceptional modern dance training, who are interested in stylized theatrical performance. Please be prepared to learn several complicated movement phrases and read from text provided.
