Casting non-union student film “Bikes, Capes and Charlie”
Casting roles for short film “Bikes, Capes and Charlie:” Cruising in
their decked out bikes and home-crafted capes, three girls use their
superhero alter egos to break out one of the trios older sibling from
a detention center they believe is nearby. Days of serious plotting
sessions go awry when they discover they’re in the wrong place.

CHARACTERS FOR CASTING:
CHARLIE, LEAD, 9 years old, Latina. Her family is recently arrived and
undocumented. Full of hope and adventure, Charlie plans to break out
her sister from a detention center with the other two members of her
superhero collective. She is full of life, childhood defiance, and
creativity.
SARA, 9 years old, a tomboy rebel ready for action any time, any place.
ELIANA, 9 years old, a mama’s girl that speaks her mind, no matter what.
JUANA, 30s, Latina. Charlie’s mother; her eldest daughter has just
been detained and she is unable to communicate with her. Desperately
holding onto hope, Juana is the backbone of the home.
GUILLERMO, 30s, Latino. Charlie’s father.
SECURITY GUARD, 20s-30s, man of color, community member, empathizes
with the situation.
This is an unpaid, non-union student film. Build your film reel! Food
will be provided. Actors must be available February 7 and 8th , 2009
for shooting.
Auditions will be held on: Thursday, January 8th from 6-9pm
