Non Union Short
Based on the Raymond Benson short story ‘007: Live at Five’, Bond must help a North Korean roller derby star defect in plain sight while the news media is taping.
Roles:
Male / 31-40 yrs. / White.
James Bond – Suave British spy. 007 will do anything for queen and country. This is Bond before Casino Royale. Raw, ill-tempered and untrusting, he will do what it takes to get the job done, especially ignoring superiors and international law. He likes his woman married to avoid complications. He excels in solitary sports. Shirt will be off in 1 scene. Must be able to roller skate/blade.
Female / 25-30 yrs. / Asian.
Jung Syung-Soon – North Korean roller derby jammer. Lean, athletic and soft spoken, she values family above all else. She’s using roller derby as a way to get out of her country and its oppression. She’s hopeful about the future and what it can bring. Must be able to roller skate/blade.
Male / 31-40 yrs. / Asian.
Jung Chang Sung – Jung Syung-Soon’s brother. A 3rd generation military man, he’s kept in because of the honor his name has brought. He’s very loyal to his family, especially his baby sister.
Female / 31-40 yrs. / Any Ethnicity.
Elsie Flynn - TV News personality going through a painful separation right now. She’s the consummate professional, never letting her personal affairs prevent her from delivering on her promise of informing the public. She is fascinated by events separate from the mundane. Strapless bikini top will be required in 1 scene.
Female / 51-60 yrs. / White.
M - early 60s –Based on her character in Casino Royale, The new M is shown as more of an eager spymaster than an administrative official, and there is no trace of her predisposed animosity toward Bond. She is patient and tolerant of the new agent’s excesses.
Male / 25-30 yrs. / Any Ethnicity.
Max – FBI Agent. Jokes to get past the sometimes deadly and horrific nature of the job. Thinks the British are a bit backward compared to Americans. Thinks business should always be kept separate from pleasure, mostly because he’s never able to enjoy pleasure. Think of him like the US Marshall named Marshall from the USA show In Plain Sight.
Male / 41-50 yrs. / Asian.
North Korean Coach - Former military man, has no room for mistakes or fun. The job is the most important thing because his country demands it. Must be able to roller skate/blade.
Male / 31-40 yrs. / Any Ethnicity.
Cameraman - Long time friend of Elsie. Not good with emotion. Dedicated to his work. Must know how to hold camera.
Either gender / 31-40 yrs. / Any Ethnicity.
Producer - Elsie’s boss. Always paranoid he’ll miss the big shot or not get the story in on time.
Either gender / 25-30 yrs. / Any Ethnicity.
FBI Agents - For strategy session and card game scene. 3 are needed.
Male / 25-30 yrs. / Asian.
Bodyguards – Guards of the coach and roller derby team. 2 are needed. Must be able to roller skate/blade.
Either gender / 25-30 yrs. / Any Ethnicity.
Policemen - 2 are needed as undercover cops for roller rink.
