Beautiful Soup Mainstage Auditions for “A Doll’s Life” – New York, NY

Project: Cast, Lighting/Costume Designers, Non-Equity Stage Managers
Audition Date: 10/7
Location: New York, NY

Casting / Audition Details:

The Beautiful Soup Theater Collective is proud to announce their Winter, 2011 theatrical event. Running in repertory, audiences are invited to join us to explore Nora Helmer, the complex and brazen young woman who slammed a door in Henrik Ibsen’s “A Doll’s House” and changed the world in 1879. In NORA, in rep, Beautiful Soup presents a classic look at Ibsen’s play and a new look at the famed Broadway 1982 flop, “A Doll’s Life”, which is a sequel of sorts.

B.S.T.C is a not-for-profit off-off-Broadway and non-Equity theater company specializing in new looks at classic works. Proceeds from the box offices of our productions are donated to a charity whose mission matches the themes of the play or musical being presented. Proceeds from NORA, in rep will be donated to SANCTUARY FOR FAMILIES, the leading not-for-profit agency in New York State for victims of domestic violence and sex trafficking. Learn more about B.S.T.C at www.beautifulsouptheatercollective.org.

BOTH PRODUCTIONS ARE SEEKING LIGHTING AND COSTUME DESIGNERS IN ADDITION TO EXPERIENCED, NON-EQUITY STAGE MANAGERS.

Rehearsals and casting will begin early for the productions, specifically “A Doll’s Life”, in order to accommodate learning the challenging and operatic score.

Music rehearsals for “A Doll’s Life” will take place at Steven’s apartment in Astoria until the entire score has been learned two nights a week through Thanksgiving. A Doll’s Life cast members will also spend the month of November exploring Ibsen’s originally play textually.

Blocking rehearsals for “A Doll’s Life” will begin immediately after Thanksgiving at Shetler Studios [244 West 54th Street, 12th floor – between 7th and 8th aves].

Performances run on a rotating schedule from January 25th thru February 5th, 2012.
