Phoenix Entertainment is casting for FAME – The Musical. The International Tour will commence its first leg in China where it will perform for several months in markets that include Shanghai and Beijing. Contracts begin November 2009.

Casting:

NICK PIAZZA: handsome, ambitious, confident classical actor who is very serious about acting, he wants to create art and make a difference, strong pop tenor, moves well;

SERENA KATZ: shy, timid actress who blossoms to an enthusiastic actress, has feelings for Nick, great high pop belt with soprano notes, moves well;

JOSE “JOE” VEGAS: energetic, uninhibited Puerto Rican comedian, loud, funny and obsessed with the ladies, strong rock n roll tenor, moves well;

CARMEN DIAZ: sexy, Latina diva, confident triple threat with a big ego, obsessed with fame, strong pop belt and strong dancer/mover;

TYRONE JACKSON: African American, sexy, masculine, dynamic, street dancer who comes from a lower income background, hides his inability to read, instantly attracted to Iris, strong bari-tenor singer/dancer with classical and hip-hop ability;

MABEL WASHINGTON: African American, personality filled, chubby dancer who loves to eat, likes to offer up her “wisdom”, strong gospel vocals, moves well;

IRIS KELLY: beautiful, classical ballet dancer, presumed to come from money but actually does not, strong trained dancer with pointe;

SCHLOMO METZENBAUM: shy, sensitive, creative type, classical violinist who wants to start a band, comes from a musical background, tired of high expectations, has an interest in Carmen, plays piano, tenor who moves well;

GRACE “LAMBCHOPS” LAMB: loud, spunky, fun rock chick and tomboy who plays the drums, She often loses her temper and it is implied that she does not take school seriously, alto, moves well;

GOODMAN “GOODY” KING: quirky, offbeat trumpet player, Schlomo’s best friend, sidekick comedian type, moves well;

MISS ESTHER SHERMAN: African American, strict, English teacher with a deep passion for her students and for academic procedure, big, rich, powerful vocal;

MISS GRETA BELL: Classical dance teacher who believes that dance is a way of life, has her eyes opened to new possibilities, strong, high belt with soprano notes;

MR MYERS: handsome drama teacher with an obsession for human psychology, strong desire to open the souls of his students, actor who sings well;

MR SHEINKOPF: Classic, old school music tutor with a love for classical music, does not appreciate the “new sound”, actor who sings well;

MALE AND FEMALE ENSEMBLE: a mix of young, fresh, attractive performers who are all strong vocalists and dancers with great personalities. All ensemble members understudy principal roles.

Open auditions will be held on Wednesday, July 1st 2009 at 10am at Chelsea Studios, 151 W. 26th Street, between 6th and 7th Av. NYC.
