Seeking two strong actors for developmental workshop of a 3 person short film
Sal, Dean and Mary Lou (FILM)
Developmental workshop of a 3 person short film based on the one-act play of the same title by Paul Desena, which was a Samuel French Playwright Festival Finalist in New York City.
The script is loosely based on characters from Jack Kerouac’s, On The Road.
It is the story of three friends in a very complex and triangulated relationship; where love, hurt and betrayal leads all into a very sobering view of the reality of human relationships.
This project will be shot as a full production in the coming months in New York; with the possibility of using the same cast. However, this workshop is taking place in Miami, FL.
Seeking two strong actors; a background in improvisation is a plus but not necessary. Due to the nature of this shoot we are working very quickly and require truly courageous actors who will be able to commit, make choices and help us explore and develop this piece in a short amount of time. There is some tastefully-shot nudity required from the script.
Breakdown:
Dean- 25-35 A guys guy, charismatic magnetism. Every guy wants to be his friend; every girl wants to sleep with him. Think Dean Moriarty/Neal Cassidy. He is a free spirit.
Mary- 20-30, an innocent, she is in love with Dean, who has left her pregnant, but is trying to settle with his bestfriend, Sal. She has a wild side but is actually somewhat conservative. She is in a bind, betrayed, still in love and very hurt; and is suddenly required to grow up very quickly.
For the audition please prepare a monologue of your choosing, preferably contemporary dramatic or serio/comedic. Additionally, sides will be provided.
Must be available for shooting this weekend
(Dates: August 8th and 9th- Saturday and Sunday)
There is no pay for this project, however, food and copies of the footage will be provided for actors’ reels.
