Casting Call for BET’s “Lens On Talent” Short Film Submission (Miami, FL)
“When Everything Around Us Falls” is a love story with a dash of family drama. Kaya and Vanessa know two things. The first is that they love each other. The second is that they can’t be together. The story centers on Kaya’s struggle to get through her engagement party with Alejandro, a man she loves… just not as much as she should. It’s an emotional battle between loyalty and love, where following your heart means breaking someone else’s.
CHARACTER BREAKDOWN:
KAYA (early to mid 20s, African American)
Urban chic tinged with an old school Hollywood flair, she’s never made a wrong step in her entire life.
VANESSA (early to mid 20s, Hispanic)
Young enough to still believe in romance, cynical enough to know how it usually ends. She still can’t help to be a little bit of dreamer.
ALEJANDRO (early to mid 20s, Hispanic)
Vanessa’s brother. He’s got a definite swagger, but it’s charming rather than cocky.
WANDA (late 40s to mid 50s, African American)
Kaya’s mother. Sophisticated, comfortable with herself and her place in the world.
NATHAN (late 40s to mid 50s, African American)
Kaya’s father. Never met a grill he couldn’t conquer or a steak he didn’t like.
MARIA (late 40s to mid 50s, Hispanic)
Vanessa’s mother. She knows raising her children is the best thing she’s ever done. Prone to crying at television commercials.
JOSE (late 40s to mid 50s, Hispanic)
Vanessa’s father. Dry sense of humor, never met a story he didn’t like to tell.
We will also have an open casting for 8 minor roles.
• The film will be submitted to the BET Filmmaker’s Challenge “Lens On Talent”
• This is a NO PAY job.
• All actors will receive a DVD copy of the film.
• Shoot scheduled for October 17-18.
