Lead Characters:
Katherina “the Shrew” 20’s to 30’s. A bad tempered, spoiled man-eater who scoffs at love. She is sick of her younger sister getting all of the attention, so she overcompensates by her rude and un-governable behavior. This role requires a strong singing voice, trained in Shakespeare and acting, and able to move well.

Petruchio – 20-s to 40’s A strong type with good movement skills and a good voice. This is a physically demanding role. Stage combat experience is a plus. Petruchio is a retired soldier who knows that sometimes in order to bring out the best in people; one must break someone down in order to build them up. There is a good heart under that bluff & bravado.

Bianca – 15-20 sweet singing voice, dance training, stage experience
The “perfect” little sister who is so good that we wonder if she is awful when no one is looking. Dispite the loss of her Mother, life has not been difficult for her. Admired for her beauty and good works, the only thorn in her side is the fact that no one in their right mind would marry her sister, Kate… and she cannot pick a suitor until the shrew is married off.

Lucentio – 18-30 strong voice, stage experience and good movement skills
Although he is a scholar he’s not exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer. He is handsome but easily distracted. Vain but not a bad guy. He’s a good catch and knows it. Like some people, he has had success his entire life and has come to expect things to fall into his lap.
