STORY LINE: In the charged aftermath following the rescue of a drowning boy two lonely souls – Kenny and Mrs. Jordan – struggle to find a way to connect.
Seeking:
KENNY KOLODNY: 18 years old, lives in a run down apartment with his dad but works as a lifeguard at a tony Country Club. Invisible to the wealthy club members, he passes his time at work by getting stoned and daydreaming about the women around him. A near-drowning of a young boy at the pool brings Kenny face-to-face with one of the objects of his daydreams, the alluring Mrs. Jordan. In the charged aftermath of the rescue of the boy Kenny and Mrs. Jordan circle around each other, looking for a way to connect. LEAD
MRS. LINDA JORDAN: In her late 30s, smart and toned, she’s one of the regulars at the club swimming pool. When her daily routine is broken by the rescue of the drowning child with help from the dope-smoking Kenny she offers to help Kenny out, only to find her actions to be mistaken for a come on. HAS A BRITISH ACCENT IN KENNY’S FANTASIES AND AN AMERICAN ACCENT IN REAL LIFE. LEAD
DAD: Kenny’s dad, a widower and a well-intentioned guy whose life has come off the rails a long time ago. He falls asleep every night with his pants down, while watching a porn website on his computer. A smoker and a beer drinker, he fears that Kenny has been fired from his job as a lifeguard. SUPPORTING
MANAGER: The worried, sweating manager of the club, he sends Kenny home for the day after the near-drowning incident. But the next day, he gives Kenny a check to reward him for saving the boy’s life…ASIAN- AMERICAN OR HISPANIC. SUPPORTING
MOTHER: The mother of a boy who’s almost drowned at the bottom of the pool, she’s screaming when Mrs. Jordan brings him to the surface, blue…PREFERABLY WITH A SON TO PLAY “BOY”. SUPPORTING
BOY: A little boy who seems to be sleeping on the bottom of the pool, he’s brought to the surface by Mrs. Jordan, blue from lack of oxygen. He’s resuscitated by Kenny and spits up a lungful of water. No lines.
