Shoots 2 weeks in August, Death Valley, CA
$1,500 a week
Synopsis: In the middle of the desert, on the hottest day in a hundred years, three stranded travelers deal with survival when all that was important is now meaningless. The journey is more important than the destination. The journey IS the destination.
In actuality, one actor will play all three roles/archetypes.
Shooting is done in 35mm black and white film.
These are typical questions the director asks of actors initially:
How comfortable you are with working in an unstructured format? (This film is not about hit your mark, say your lines over and over from many camera shots).
How do you feel about expressing ideas, emotions without exposition? (The director does not want you to tell him how or what you feel, show him…)
Principal photography will be approximately two weeks. It will be hot, desolate, and beautiful, so you would need to be comfortable and be professional in that environment.
What is the film about?
In the director’s perspective, most films are entertainment, the audience suspends reality for a while and goes along with the story, car crashes, comedy, etc. When it is over, people mostly return to their normal lives. This little film doesn’t dumbly wait for the audience, it will reach out to grab you , pull you in. The audience will not know where they are going or if they want to go, but they will feel. That is the goal of this little film, to reconnect people with what it means to be a human being.
Seeking:
FEMALE: Caucasian, able to play an age range of late 26 to 33, height 5′5′ to 5′10′, hair of shoulder to long length, dirty blond. Body style, average to athletic with no enhancements. Needs to speak fluent English and if possible but NOT required speak French. Additional attributes but not required; can read/write sheet music, can play an instrument, Stella Adler training, Meisner or Stanislavski training. Prototype: A young Julianne Moore or young Jodie Foster.
