Los Angeles, CA Casting Calls: Casting Call for Leads for Upcoming Short Film

The lead characters must speak fluent Japanese.
The shooting date will be the first & second weekends of September.
All expenses will be covered; meals provided.

A new project by a rising director/writer from Japan, Kenta Ikeda whose projects have been screened in many film festivals.

SYNOPSIS;

Having been staying in the U.S. for over years, Kansaijin (a Japanese guy from Kansai), Japanese College Girl, and Girl Who Likes a Black Guy (Japanese) are still trapped in between the real America and their misguided image of “America” that they wish they are part of. Having to face the fact that they do not have a lot of time left in this foreign country to them, they start wondering what they really came here for and what their true dream was.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN;

Lead characters

Kansaijin (early 20s)
A Japanese guy from Kansai (a region in Japan) who speaks Kansai accents although he does not speak a lot. He graduated from college, and is interning in a small Japanese company in U.S. Though he came to the U.S. to pursue “American Dream,” he doesn’t know what it really means. Having to face the reality that he now has to go back to Japan, he wonders what his true dream was.

Japanese College Girl (early 20s)
She’s thin, sort of pale Japanese. She is in her senior year of her university but does not know what to do with her degree in her future. She finally comes to an conclusion that is to marry with an American pastor and go to Arizona to support him for the propagation while having to postpone her graduation and her dream.

Girl Who Likes a Black Guy (Later in her 10s or early 20s)
She is a Japanese girl who talks about herself that she only sleeps with black guys, lives in a ghetto, and she would be really mad if there is no drug in a party. Yet in fact, these are the illusions that she thought she’d be if she came to the U.S. Not being able to accept the reality which is completely the opposite of these, she keeps lying about herself but…
