COST CONTRACT:
La Mirada (rehearsal: 10/7 open 10/31: close: 11/16)
Venue: La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts. COST contract: $738 per week (this contract is non negotiable and does not include housing or per diem). $100 flat driving stipend.
Tempe, Arizona (open: 11/18 close: 11/23)
COST contract: $738 per week (this contract is non negotiable. Housing and travel will be provided and a per diem of approximately $20 per week)
TOUR DETAILS:
TIER F CONTRACT
Tour will start in Milwaukee. Travel date is on or about 1/4/09 and open is 1/6/09. 17+ weeks on tour.
Production Contract Tier F: Contract minimum is $690 weekly but our minimum will be $750. Per Diem: approximately $728 weekly. There may be negotiating room with some of the Principal roles.
AUDITIONS: LA ONLY EPA and Equity Chorus Call: on or about 7/11 and 7/14.
Initial Auditions: Weeks of 7/21 and 7/28.
Director Auditions: Week of 8/18
Producer Call Backs: week of 9/8
Location: National tour

NOTE: HAPPY DAYS is a musical based on the classic TV series. All action takes place in the 1950’s.

Seeking:

RICHIE CUNNINGHAM: Male, 20s to play a high school senior on the brink of graduation. Richie is the All American good guy warm, earnest and charming he is the narrator of the show and is preparing to leave Milwaukee and see the world as a journalist. He takes the town’s problems seriously and considers it his responsibility to find solutions. He and Fonzie, his best friend, have a major falling out and ultimately strengthen their friendship. Must sing very well high baritone and the lead singer of the Dial Tones doo wop group.

PINKY TUSCADERO: Female, late 20s to 30s; Fonzie’s love interest, Pinky is a formidable match for him. Think Angelina Jolie meets Courtney Love in 1959. She is confident and hot, with a body to die for. Her tough edge is challenged by Fonzie and ultimately melts away when they reconcile at the end of the show. She does have a softer side underneath the biker babe exterior (somewhat envies the normal life that the Cunningham’s lead). Must be a strong singer, low F to D (belt). Must dance well and have major star presence.

JOANNIE CUNNINGHAM: Female, 20s to play 14-16 yr. old. Lovable and precocious, the young daughter of Cunningham family; has a sexy, youthful innocence. Strong actress. Must have a great pop/belt voice and dance well. Tap a plus.

ARNOLD: Male, mid 40s - mid 50s; comic, character man, member of the Leopard Lodge. This is a man that all of the kids trust, admire and look up to. He’s an adult allowed into their private world (he owns the hangout). The storyline revolves around the kids coming together to try to save Arnold’s from closing. Must sing. ESPECIALLY SEEKING HEAVIER SET CHARACTER ACTORS WITH A DISTINCTIVELY URBAN, ITALIAN FEEL.

HOWARD CUNNINGHAM: male, 45-50; Ritchie’s dad, the quintessential Midwestern head of household. Must be a warm, charming, character actor with a good character singing voice.

CHACHI ARCOLA: Male, 20s to play a high school student. Fonzie’s younger cousin who idolizes him and tries, sometimes unsuccessfully, to be as cool as THE FONZ. Youngest of Ritchie’s friends; has a crush on Joanie. Sings tenor in The Dial-tones doo-wop group and must have strong falsetto extension. Must move very well. 5′10″ OR UNDER preferable. PLEASE POST HEIGHT ON RESUME OR NOTES.

POTSIE WEBER: Male, 20s to play high school student. Ritchie’s friend, not very cool though he tries hard to be. Should be traditionally handsome and a bit square. Sings bass in The Dial-tones doo-wop group. Must dance well. Tumble/tricks a plus.

RALPH MALPH: Male, 20s to play high school student. Ritchie’s friend, loud mouth, not very bright. The class clown. Sings baritone in The Dial-tones. Must move well.

JUMPY MALACHI, AND OTHERS: Male, 30s; Fonzie’s longtime enemy turned wrestler. As his name suggests, he is physically excitable and constantly in fear of his older brother. Also plays James Dean, a member of Howard’s lodge and a high school student as well. Must be a truly inspired comic actor. Short a plus. Must sing and move well.

COUNT MALACHI, AND OTHERS: male, 30s; Fonzie’s longtime enemy turned wrestler. Saw Don Quixote and has developed a Brooklyn version of a Spanish conquistador impression. Also plays Elvis, a member of Howard’s lodge and a high school bully. Should have large presence (tall or perhaps heavyset) and be a gifted comic actor. Must sing and move well.

LORI-BETH: Female, 20s to play high school student. Richie’s girlfriend and the All-American girl. Wants to get married as soon as possible. Must sing and dance, tap a plus.

PINKETTE CAROLINA/PAULA: Female, 20s - early 30s, Strong singer/dancer, tall and sexy. As one of Pinky’s two side kicks, her business manager and psychic advisor, she is hot & sexy. As Paula, she is an All-American high school girl. Must have a great pop sound (high belt) and dance well (tap a plus).

PINKETTE HARRIET/JOY: Female, 20s - early 30s, Strong singer/dancer, tall and sexy. As one of Pinky’s two side kicks and her mechanic, she is hot & sexy. As Joy she is an All-American high school girl. Must have a great pop sound (high belt) and dance well (tap a plus).

FEMALE DANCER/SINGER: 20s, Good singer, with a versatile pop voice, who dances. Should be able to pull off cute and sassy as well as sexy. Shorter is better.

MALE DANCER/SINGER: 20s, Good singer, with a versatile pop voice (including falsetto), who dances well. Tumble/tricks a plus. Should possess a fun and quirky personality. Shorter is better. Will understudy CHACHI, POTSIE, RALPH.

MALE SWING: 25-35. Must be a versatile, young character actor. Must sing and move very well. Must be able to play a broad range of ages and characters. Will understudy Fonzie, the Malachis, and the male ensemble track.

FEMALE SWING: Must be a strong, young singer/dancer to understudy the roles of the Pinkettes and possibly Pinky.
