Havok Theatre Company recently produced the critically-acclaime d and extended L.A. Premieres of ‘Thrill Me’ and ‘Dog Sees God’. This will be the first Los Angeles Revival of ‘Kiss of the Spider Woman’, a Seven-time Tony Award winner. It has not been seen in L.A. since the Chita Rivera tour almost 15 years ago. Ovation and LADCC Award-winner Nick DeGruccio will direct, and Ovation Award-winner Lee Martino will choreograph.

Note on Nudity: The script calls for Valentin’s underpants to be changed onstage. While this will be discreetly staged, there may be some partial, rear, non-sexual nudity in this moment. In addition, some of the 6 Prisoner/Dancer men may be asked to dance shirtless.

All auditions will be held at Madilyn Clark Studios, 10852 Burbank Blvd., N. Hollywood.

All characters are technically Latin American, but we are considering all ethnicities.

SPIDER WOMAN/AURORA: mid-30s to mid-50s, tour-de-force dual role for excellent actress/singer/ dancer, as Aurora she embodies the classic B-Movie musical diva; as Spider Woman she represents mortal death waiting at every turn, ready to pluck another prisoner from his tortured existence, low mezzo belt, C sharp below to A

VALENTIN: Latino (or dark European), mid-20s to early-30s, young revolutionary thrown into prison and tortured for information, also fantasizes about a life outside of the prison walls and eventually warms to a friendship, and maybe even something more, with Molina, role requires an excellent actor/singer, intense and dangerous, who can also surprise with moments of great softness and vulnerability, no dancing, brief/partial/ non-sexual/ rear nudity may be required (see note below), tenor to solid high A

WARDEN: mid-40s to mid-60s, runs the Latin American prison where Valentin is being tortured, will do anything required to get the information he needs, intelligent and refined, yet capable of inspiring fear in all prisoners and guards, some baritone singing required to F

UNDERSTUDY FOR MOLINA: Late 30s, gay window dresser, baritone to F, to be cast from within Prisoners/Dancers

MOLINA’S MOTHER: mid-50s, warm, caring, represents the ideal mother, mezzo to E flat

MARTA: mid-20s, upper-class girl about whom Valentin dreams, mezzo to G

ESTEBAN AND MARCOS: age open, rough and extremely intimidating guards who constantly taunt and torture the prisoners, primarily acting roles, but some singing required in full company numbers

AURORA’S MEN/PRISONERS: Six males, triple-threats, as the ever-present prisoners and Aurora’s fantasy dancers, some will play the featured roles of Gabriel, Aurelio, etc., also seeking internal understudies from the prisoners for Valentin, Molina, etc., strong athletic musical theatre dancers requried, must attend open dance call on August 5 (11 am for Union, 4 pm for Non-Union), combo of bass/baritones and tenors to high C.
