Casting call for SAG Indy Film “Bolden”

“BOLDEN” – SAG INDY FILM
Director: Dan Pritzker, NY/LA early 2009
CHARLIE: We are looking for an African-American, Male character between 45
and 75 years of age to portray our lead character, Charles, in the latter stages of his life, having spent 25 years in a mental institution. We are looking to portray the last months of his life and need an actor who can portray without dialogue, the dull desperation Charles finds himself in. The light has gone out of Charle’s life, leaving him a vacuous, empty shell whose eyes hold no reflection of the world around him. His blank stare must convey the tragedy of a great artist, lost in the haze for the last 25 years, trapped in a cocoon of nothingness. The ideal actor would have a raw look that would communicate Charles’ physical degradation in the asylum, in addition to his mental one. This performance is a one which will be evoked through improv, sound, and lack of the character’s ability to communicate.
