ALWAYS & FOREVER follows Alma, a teenage girl from Bell Gardens CA, who is determined to have local corrido-singing heartthrob Adán Sánchez perform at her quinceañera. Alma’s journey into womanhood gets complicated when she prays to the Virgin Mary for guidance, but accidentally conjures Jesús Malverde, the narco-saint. The play explores Mexican-American youth culture, banda music and the border scene. ALWAYS & FOREVER “…has a truly authentic voice, dripping in Los Angeles Latin youth culture” (Angela Garcia Combs, LA Stage Magazine). Music, memory and magic realism collide to reveal a story that is sometimes tragic, sometimes humorous, but always and forever unquestionably Los Angeles.
