Synopsis
What happens when a young newlywed couple spend their wedding night
with both sets of parents…and an over-zealous bellhop, in their New
York City hotel suite?

Project Notes
A New Musical with music by Wayland Pickard, book by Carolanne
Marano, and lyrics by Wayland Pickard and Perry Lambert, whose debut
production was nominated for 4 Los Angeles Artistic Director
Achievement Awards (ADA), including “Best Original New Musical”. This
wonderful and zany musical comedy is about a young newlywed couple in
New York City, whose honeymoon plans go hilariously wrong, with the
help of both sets of parents and an overly helpful bellhop. Described
by critics as combining the comedy of Neil Simon with the tradition
of Cole Porter.

Audition Note
Prepare two contrasting songs, showing your range and what you enjoy.

Roles:

MEGAN / Lead / Female / Caucasian / 18-28
The bride. Beautiful, fit, a sense of innocence, but has a naughty
side. Great singer, dancer, and actress.

MICHAEL / Lead / Male / Caucasian / 20-30
The Groom. Struggling actor. Handsome, fit, charming, yet sweet. Must
be great singer, dancer, and actor.

GIORGIO / Co-Star / Male / Hispanic / 35-55
Great character role. Must be great singer, dancer, and comedian.
This is the ‘over-the top’, gay, Columbian bellhop. Great showcase
role. Think Hank Azaria in “The Birdcage”, or Robin Williams type.
Has some of the best songs.

BARBARA / Co-Star / Female / Caucasian / 45-55
Mother of the bride. Character type, Seeks attention. Must sing and
move well. Great at broad comedy and physical comedy. Maybe a Bette
Midler or Carol Burnette type. Great songs.

LOUIS / Co-Star / Male / Caucasian / 48-60
Father of the bride. Serious. Over-protective of his daughter.
Stingy. Good singer and able to move well. Great character songs.

JOANNE / Co-Star / Female / Caucasian / 45-55
Character type. Over-protective of son. Southern (think an older
Scarlet O’Hara). Must be strong singer and dancer. Great songs.

CHUCK / Co-Star / Male / Caucasian / 50-60
Father of the Groom. Southern Gentleman. Quiet. His philosophy for a
successful marriage is “Shut up, wear a smile and say ‘yes, dear”.
Likes to drink (but not a drunk…just happy). Avoids confrontations.
Should be able to sing and move well.
