Actors wanted for Playwrights Express one-act plays

Actors needed for 3 one-act plays at Playwrights Express 2008, FirstStage Theatre, Hollywood. There will be a single performance of each play on Sunday, June 1, 2008 from 3-4PM as part of FirstStage annual fundraiser.

Dark Moan Rising (10 min): Dark comedy. A government security analyst is driven to insanity by a new office worker.

Phil: Gov’t security analyst – insecure, 30-40

Janice: New office worker – from prim and meek to sexy and savvy, 30-40. (role filled)

Stanley (15 min): Drama. A mentally challenged man’s skills and cognitive improvements are put to the test when his caretaker younger brother and wife must move to another city.

Stanley: A mildly retarded man, about 40. (role filled)

Brian: Stanley’s younger brother by 10 years

Cathy: Brian’s wife, roughly same age Brian. (role filled)

Shivalry (10 min): Comedy. A playwright seeking dramatic research for a stage play finds his ideal criminal subject, but a jilted lover bent on revenge has set them both up.

Carl Dorset: Caucasian playwright – improv skills, 40-50

Shiv: African-American street thug/actor – improv skills, 25-35.

Jose: Hispanic jail employee, 25-35.
