Audition Information: Tuesday, August 25, 2009. Open call between 6:00-9:00 PM. Callbacks will be Wednesday, August 26 from 7:00-10:00 PM.
Location: John Anthony Theatre, on the campus of Collin College, Jupiter Road, between Spring Creek Parkway and Parker Road. (I-75 N, exit Spring Creek Pkwy-East, R on Jupiter, L onto campus.)
Needs: 5 Men, 3 Women plus Understudies
Roles Available:
GRACE: owner of the diner, seasoned, saucy and a little sad; looking for love.
ELMA: waitress, innocent but bright, high school age. Plays Juliet to Dr. Lyman’s Romeo, literally.
CARL: the bus driver, nice guy, attracted to Grace.
CHERIE: a chanteuse from the Ozarks headed for Hollywood but might end up in Montana.“Performs” Old Black Magic.
BO DECKER: a young cowboy and ranch owner, determined to take Cherie, his first love, back to Montana. Wild but ready to be tamed.
VIRGIL BLESSING: a ranch hand, Bo’s keeper. Plays guitar and sings.
DR. LYMAN: former college professor with “issues,’ recites Shakespeare and drinks – a lot.
WILL: the Sheriff, determined to keep the peace. Able to put Bo in his place, physically.
Prepare: Preliminary auditions AND callbacks will be MONOLOGUES and SCENES from BUS STOP posted at the Collin Theatre Center Website (collintheatrecenter DOT com and click on Call Board). Please read the ENTIRE script and come prepared to read a POSTED selection of your choosing AND whatever else might be asked of you. Actors interested in VIRGIL should be prepared to sing a country ballad and play/fake the guitar. Actresses interested in CHERIE should be prepared to sing eight (8) bars of an appropriate song, a cappella.
Rehearsals Begin: Friday, August 28.
THIS PRODUCTION WILL HAVE AN UNUSUAL REHEARSAL SCHEDULE:
August 28 – September 13 = Friday, 7-11 PM, Saturday, 11-6 PM, Sunday, 12-7 PM;
September 15 – October 2 = Add Tuesday and Thursday, 7 – 10 PM.
October 3 – 7 = tech and dress schedule TBA.
Show Dates: Bus Stop will be performed on the campus of Collin College in Plano in the John Anthony Theatre. Performances are October 8-18, 2009. Evening performances are at 8 PM. Weekend matinee performances are at 2:15 PM.
No Appointments will be taken.
The Collin Theatre Center is an amateur production company and does not pay its performers.
