Male Actors Needed for Staged Reading of an Original New Comedy
We are seeking actors with flexible schedules who are willing and interested in participating in a semi-staged reading of a new gay farce.
(Think Terrance McNally meets Seinfeld via a little Neil Simon.)
We are especially seeking experienced actors with a strong sense of comedic timing. Improv skills are a plus!
The reading will be done in front of an invited audience of between 20 and 50 people.
There is no pay involved, but it should be a good chance to be a part of the creative process and meet some other interesting theatre folks.
Those selected, will be needed THREE times. Once for the audition, once for a rehearsal and once for the actual reading.
Although this is a reading, we are trying to cast the roles as closely as possible to the actual “Types.”
We are seeking actors for the following roles:
JOE
A Single Gay Man Turning 40 and not happy about it, A Little Depressed, but not depressing, Sweet, Charming, Slightly overweight.
GEORGE
A Sexy 23 Year Old Gay Boy Toy with a Brain, Has a great body and knows it, must be very charismatic, A younger “Tobey Maguire/Keanu Reeves” type.
CORY
Attractive 40 Year Old Restaurant owner, Gay, Charming, handsome, a little shy, A “Jeffrey Dean Morgan” type.
PATRICK
A Gay, Male Spa Assistant, Good Looking, Early 20’s, Smart, Has a great body, May have a slight Southern Accent, A younger “Ryan Reynolds/Paul Walker” type.
GLEN
A Bi-Sexual Plumbing Fixture Salesman, Male, 30 to 40 years old, A “Kevin James/Jason Alexander” type.
DONALD
A Male Spa Owner, 40’s, Straight, An Ex-prison warden, A little menacing, His bark is worse than his bite, A cross between Edward G. Robinson and Jack Lalanne.
ALBERT
Male, 25-30 years old, Straight, An Insurance Adjuster, A little Nerdy.
