INFO ABOUT FILM:

Logline: A middle-aged struggling blues musician moves to Chicago from New Orleans shortly after Katrina to find work and look for his estranged family. While there, he meets a free-spirited young woman, struggling with her promiscuous ways and troubled past. As they try to help each other through this transitional period in their lives, they form an unlikely friendship that is both challenging and beautiful.

Synopsis: Marcus moves to Chicago from New Orleans looking for work and for his estranged son, who he couldn’t find after Hurricane Katrina hit. He meets a young woman, Jess, at a bar and they engage in a brief conversation, but he sparks her curiosity. They are both in difficult transitions in their lives and are haunted by the past. Marcus struggles with music, paralyzed by guilt and regret, and pawns his guitar for mental/emotional reasons. He looks for work but has a hard time. Jess can’t stand her job and the people she works with. She drinks to self-medicate. She decides to show Marcus around the city and help him on his search, as well as help keep his mind off the stressful realities of his situation, but she too is looking for a distraction. They form a complicated, but unexpected friendship and in this brief moment in time, unsure what the future brings, they help each other to motivate the healing process and temporarily fill certain voids they had in their lives.
