Elderly, young actors needed for Northwestern University short film “Dwarf Planet” (Evanston, IL)
Actors for Dwarf Planet, a Northwestern University short film produced by Ursula Ellis and Jackie Willens, and written and directed by Tomi Mendel.
Premise:
August 24, 2006. The International Astronomical Union has unceremoniously stripped Pluto of its planetary status. Where were you that fateful day? DWARF PLANET is the story of an elderly Plutonian woman living in secrecy on Earth during that very time. Can she locate her hidden spacecraft in time to fly back home, or will she be trapped forever in an unhappy Earthling marriage?
We are tentatively planned to shoot February 26-28 and March 5-7.
We are auditioning five parts:
Sharon
Female, 65+.
Active, yet contemplative. An alien visitor living in disguise as an Earthling, but very much human. Left restless by her unhappy marriage and the stifling monotony of her life, she yearns to her home planet.
Jerry
Male, 65+.
Lazy, can be very temperamental. Gruff, but vulnerable. Afraid of changes, is content with his sedentary lifestyle despite a very unhappy marriage.
Iris
Female, 58+.
Classic nosy neighbor to Sharon and Jerry. Extremely talkative, generous, kind-hearted. Not always a great listener. Lover of dogs and children.
News anchor
Male or female, 30s.
A youngish, overly excited news anchor.
Rob
Male, about 32.
Burly. Hardware store employee.
Auditions will be held from 6pm-10pm, January 12-14, at at Louis Hall, Room 118.
The address is 1877 Campus Drive Evanston, IL 60208. (Louis Hall is a grey building with satellite dishes on top.)
