RavensFilm Productions is looking to begin casting an independent short action-thriller titled “The Van Owens Job.” “Vengeance, “ the feature-length follow-up, was originally developed as a short film that was partially shot in the summer of 2005, but never completed. Now, with the “Vengeance” script expanded to 70 pages, the goal is to use “The Van Owens Job” to potentially gain exposure and financial backing for “Vengeance.” Several of these characters do crossover into that project. Shooting is intended to begin in early June. This short film, shot on standard-definition digital video, will be distributed both online and in film festivals.
SYNOPSIS:
The number one gun in the Ennis Jackson syndicate, Vance Derricks. joins lower level hitman David Alec Swann to seal a fresh and lucrative deal with Richard Van Owens - an eccentric and outlandish king of the streets. Anything you might need - guns, drugs, prostitution - he can provide it for you. But this was to be hitman Simon Kreese’s gig, a golden opportunity to improve his standing with Jackson, but has pawned the task onto Derricks to engage in sordid, illicit affairs in the cover of night. Though, the deal with Van Owens quickly proves to be anything but ordinary due to his off-beat personality, overblown ego, and greedy attitude. But how things turn out will not be as explosive as what events will be spawned from it all in “Vengeance.”

ROLES TO BE CAST:
Vance Derricks - Caucasian Male, early 30s, medium build, dark hair, gruff appearance, consummate professional, hard-edged attitude, and has a code of honor and loyalty that he lives by, absolutely. Physicality required.
David Alec Swann - Caucasian Male, 30-35, medium build, well-groomed. Defiant, out-spoken attitude. Well-experienced and seasoned professional. Lives by a definite code of honor that often keeps him from acting on emotional impulse. Physicality required.
Richard Van Owens - Caucasian Male, 30-40, grungy appearance, slender build, speaks with a Southern accent and broken speech pattern. Eccentric and outlandish man who has built up a ragged criminal empire on the streets of Chicago. Though, is still low level next to the powerful Ennis Jackson syndicate.
Simon Kreese - Caucasian Male, early 30s, clean shaven, strong handsome features, real tough, short tempered, scheming, power hungry, volatile, but a bona fide cold blooded killer. No nudity, but must be comfortable with screen kisses.
Robert Jack “Snake” Russell - Caucasian Male, early 30s, unkempt appearance, beard stubble. Gun-obsessed nutcase henchman to Simon Kreese. Character traits include an almost constant crazed smile, slight cackling laugh, and dresses constantly in black and wears shades. Two scenes only.
Van Owens’ Henchmen - Approximately six adult males will be needed as street muscle for Richard Van Owens. and will be involved in a choreographed fight scene. Must have a strong, imposing physical presence, and experience in stage combat.
