Director: Kalima Young. Lessons Learned, the second feature-length
film from Kubla Khan Productions, is a complex serial killer thriller
set in the heart of Baltimore’s Mt. Vernon community. The film
revolves around a bizarre rash of murders that occur during Labor Day
weekend. Casting for principal roles, supporting characters, minor
characters and extras began the first week in April and will continue
through the middle of June, with shooting to begin September 2007.

This is a NON-UNION, independent project. Actors will not be paid,
however, on-set catering will be provided as will credit for the
project and a copy of the reel upon completion.

Please be aware that this is a GAY-THEMED project and many of the
characters are homosexual. That being said, Lessons Learned is neither
comedy nor spoof. The film is an intense, psychological drama and
actors should expect to portray the characters with professionalism
and respect at all times.

1. Male / 25-30 yrs. / African American. Justin Bishop (Lead) is a
young journalist with a tragic past. The only survivor of a childhood
kidnap, Justin suffers from schizo-affectedness disorder. His tenuous
grasp on reality begins to slip once the murders begin to occur. His
intuitions about the killer’s next targets compounds with mysterious
warnings and half remembered dreams that lead him to wonder if he
himself is the killer or the next victim.

2. Female / 51-60 yrs. / African American. Janet Bishop (Principal)
is Justin’s mother and the Editor-in-Chief of the City Bulletin
Newspaper, where Justin also works. Janet is a take charge, no bull
class of woman, strong, and is determined to prove her Son’s innocence
at all costs.

3. Male / 51-60 yrs. / African American. Raymond Ahmad (Principal)
is a Lieutienant for the Baltimore City Police’s Homicide Division. He
is also Justin’s step-father and Janet’s ex-Husband. He’s a shrewd
man, and isn’t afraid to buck the system in the name of Justice.

4. Male / 25-30 yrs. / Any Ethnicity. The Dancer (Supporting)
- flirtatious, charming.

loud, flamboyant, prone to gossip.
