Directing Workshop: “The Crying Game”
Director: Canyon Darcy
Synopsis: This is a directing workshop that explores in-depth character immersion in a scene from the 1992 film “The Crying Game”. Put on by the UT RTF department, this workshop treats the process of acting with equal importance as the result. Thus it is an opportunity for actors to work collaboratively with the student director over the course of several rehearsals, as well as being subject to the constructive criticism of a professional director in the industry.
Projected Time: 5-8 minutes.
Format: DSLR 7D
DIL (female): A newly-made widow disguises her grief and insecurities through escapist romance. But now, a passionless affair turns into the real thing, and she must assess her existing grief and newfound love.
FERGUS (male): Racked with the guilt of his life choices, including the trauma of his friend’s death, he strives to do some good in the world.
