Casting call for senior thesis project “Drowning”
“Drowning” is the title of my senior thesis project about a high school wrestler struggling with life, while pressured by both an over-bearing, ‘win-at-all-costs’ coach and a father completely against his son’s choice to wrestle. I am an undergrad at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in Rochester, New York. Though the school is in New York, I am from a town called Maple Shade in southern New Jersey and that is where the filming will take place. The entire crew is from the School of Film and Animation at RIT. The film will be shot over the course of three (3) weekends; two (2) weekends in September, and one (1) weekend in December. Dates and times will be discussed at a later date.
Seeking:
RYAN MCGONIGLE: Late teens, in shape, wrestling experience required, lead role;
COACH: 40-50’s, tall and intimidating, must-win attitude, supporting role;
JOHN MCGONIGLE: 40-50’s, tall and intimidating, Ryan’s father, supporting role;
CHRIS TAYLOR: Late teens, in shape, wrestling experience required, Ryan’ s rival, arrogant, supporting role;
PAT: Late teens, in shape, wrestling experience encouraged, co-captain of the wrestling team, supporting role;
MR. BRYANT: 40-60’s, intelligent, high school English teacher, supporting role;
AMY MCGONIGLE: Early teens, Ryan’s little sister, brother and sister are close, supporting role;
SULLY: Early teens, freshman in high school, ‘mouthy’, wrestling experience encouraged, supporting role.
Auditions will be held on June 3rd, 2009 from 6:00pm-10:00pm at the Maple Shade Municipal Complex, 200 Stiles Ave., Maple Shade, NJ 08052. Enter through main doors and follow signs up the stairs and to the right. Auditions will be taped. Scripts will be provided for all roles along with personal information sheets. This will be a ‘cold read’, so advance knowledge of the script is not necessary. Ample preparation time will be provided. If unable to attend, send pix and resumes by June 15th to Dan Sullivan, 478 W. Front St., Maple Shade, NJ 08052. No pay, but finished copy, credit, and meals will all be provided.
